assemblage /ah sem bliji; ah sem blazh/ n.

a composition of objects fastened to a surface. any materials may be used: common objects are wires, papers, metals, plastics, wood, (in my case...driftwood) shells, cloth and glass.

the term found object art describes art created from undisguised, but often modified, objects that are not normally considered art, often because they already have a non-art function.

collage /kulu:3 ke'la:3/ n.

the word collage derives from the French term papiers colles (or decoupage) used to describe techniques of pasting paper cut-outs onto various surfaces.

the distinction between an assemblage and a collage is fuzzy: usually assemblage refers to a composition of mostly non paper materials or materials having appreciable thickness, while collage generally implies the use of flat papers glued to a substrate of choice.
